We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Commercial Manager to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional to contribute to strategic construction projects while advancing their career. The role involves working on architectural fit-out projects within MOD sites. It is primarily office-based in Reading, with site visits as required.
Key Qualifications & Skills
Certification:
* Professional body certifications and memberships are desirable but not essential.
Experience:
* Minimum 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
* Knowledge of, or strong experience in, estimating is desirable.
Contract Knowledge:
* Extensive experience with construction contracts.
* Experience with NEC (New Engineering Contract) is desirable but not essential.
Technical Skills:
* Strong background in estimating, cost forecasting and reporting, cost control, and risk management.
* Experience in preparing contract documentation and contract administration.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
* Strong understanding of financial management principles, including cash flow analysis, cost reporting, and forecasting.
* Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Procurement Expertise:
* Experience in managing procurement processes, including subcontractor selection, preparing subcontract documents, and negotiating with suppliers.
Legal Compliance:
* Familiarity with construction-related legislation and the ability to ensure regulatory compliance.
Analytical Thinking:
* Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and provide cost-effective solutions.
Attention to Detail:
* Meticulous in reviewing contracts, specifications, and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Negotiation:
* Skilled in negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to maximise project profitability.
Time Management:
* Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Problem-Solving:
* Strong problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to address issues quickly and effectively.
Leadership & Teamwork:
* Experience in leading and mentoring team members and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adjust to changing project demands.
