An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, well-motivated Registered Nurse, Midwife or AHP registered health care professional to join the Resuscitation Service at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust as a Resuscitation Officer.
You will be part of a dynamic and exciting team who support colleagues across a variety of settings to be trained to a high level in all aspects of resuscitation. The team supports colleagues throughout the organization with all aspects of resuscitation.
This post is offered on a permanent basis and the successful candidate will be supported to complete further training and programmes to enhance their skills within the role as resuscitation officer.
Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity for ongoing professional development. The role will incorporate supporting, planning and delivery of training at all levels, giving advice across the Trust, and contributing towards a high standard of resuscitation practice. The post holder will attend as part of the arrest team when available.
The successful candidate will also support the development of policies and procedures, be involved in local and national audits and other projects to influence improvements in all aspects of resuscitation and associated practice, including deterioration recognition.
We require candidates to be a Registered Nurse, Midwife or HCPC registered health care professional and have relevant post qualifying experience. They must have relevant resuscitation teaching experience and hold a teaching qualification.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Usual pattern - Monday to Friday. Occasional work outside of this to meet service needs.

Job responsibilities
The Resuscitation Officer (RO) will support delivery of both basic life support, advanced life support and associated training throughout South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT, the Trust) and support effective operational delivery of this training.
The Resuscitation Officer will deputise for the Senior Resuscitation Officer (SRO) in their absence or in areas of delegated / designated responsibility.
The RO will be expected to respond to adult cardiac arrest calls, paediatric emergency calls, acting as an expert member of the team and facilitating experiential learning and team debrief.
The RO will support resuscitation associated audit programmes across the Trust and lead on specific audits with designated responsibility from the SRO encouraging evidence-based practice Trust wide by contributing to the development and revision of Trust resuscitation and associated guidelines, policies, procedures and training in the light of new research and audit.
The RO will support effective use of all resuscitation training equipment within the Trust and contribute to the appropriate maintenance of such equipment.
To act as a professional resource for all staff within the Trust. To influence cardiac arrest prevention by supporting organisational approaches to deterioration recognition across the Trust.

Qualifications
* Professional registration (e.g. Nursing, Midwifery or AHP).
* Degree in healthcare-related subject (or UK equivalent).
* Mentorship certificate/Practice Assessor or demonstrable equivalent teaching experience.
* Experience of working with the resuscitation service or wider comparable experience such as training at instructor level as below;
* Current ILS or ALS certificate.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
* Knowledge and understanding of current resuscitation guidelines.
* Current ALS/APLS/EPLS/pILS certificate.
* ILS/pILS/ALS/APLS Instructor or Instructor. Potential/Candidate Status.
* Completion of AIMS/ALERT course.
* Clinical Skills Course.
Physical Skills
* Regular moving and handling will be a regular occurrence in this role.
* Work cross site at STDH and SRH as needed and community venues as needed.
