The Opportunity
Staffline Recruitment Ireland is recruiting a Deputy Legal Advisor (Deputy Principal) to join the Northern Ireland Civil Service. This role is ideal for a recently qualified Solicitor looking to advance their legal career within a government setting.
The successful candidate will support the Principal Legal Officer (PLO) in progressing inquests and representing coroners in legal challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in inquest preparation, including compiling inquest materials, briefs to counsel, and witness bundles.
* Review and analyse disclosure materials from multiple sources, identifying key legal issues and preparing draft summaries.
* Conduct legal research and draft reports and briefings under the direction of the PLO.
* Maintain case files in accordance with office policies and procedures.
* Correspond with external stakeholders to ensure cases progress in a timely and compliant manner.
* Support coronial decision-making processes in relation to satellite litigation.
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Solicitor, newly qualified or up to two years' post-qualification experience.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and assess relevant facts and evidence.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload efficiently and meet deadlines.
* Enthusiasm, initiative, and a proactive approach to legal casework.
