We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Configuration Engineer, to be involved in insert phase for relevant discipline industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
An exciting opportunity for a Configuration Engineer to join the programme. The role is crucial to the programme, covering the entire power station configuration management. Successful candidates will be responsible for performing a range of configuration activities that supports efficient engineering processes and data management in a complex programme environment. The key areas include identification and establishing a baseline configuration Bill of Materials and supporting geometry exchange and integration of the BoM across the Rolls-Royce SMR organisation, change management to the configuration and providing accurate reporting and analytics.
Short term achievement
1. Working with the engineering functions, establish and maintain configuration baselines to support key programme dates and demonstrate the completeness and maturity by generating formal reporting such as Master Records Index, plant weight schedule and key metrics.
Medium term achievement
1. Create and populate Bills of Material to a consistent and accurate standard, managing authorised change and applying the appropriate maturity status and version controls to the master configuration.
2. Manage product change in accordance with change process, working with engineering and programme functions to ensure each change is investigated, impacts assessed and approved changes enacted fully and then formally recorded.
3. Manage the integration of parts, assemblies, systems, modules between different design responsible areas.
4. Exchange design definition and supporting data internally and externally to the Rolls-Royce SMR organisation, demonstrate alignment of content between data sources whilst observing IP and export control restrictions. Contribute to the development of configuration plans, policies and processes that Configuration management and the wider Rolls-Royce SMR organisation operates within.
Long term achievements
1. Represent Configuration Management across the programme, at gated reviews and externally to the Rolls-Royce SMR organisation.
2. Develop working practices for change specialist activities, data exchange processes, product structure control and reporting and analytics.
3. Support the development, UAT and implementation of the software solutions required by Configuration.
