To undertake the provision of holistic nursing care of patients and their significant others requiting chemotherapy/ anti-cancer treatment, with the support of senior colleagues. May develop the skills and competencies to perform additional tasks. Will work as part of the chemotherapy team to undertake the education of other healthcare professionals, patients and their carer's. Participate in audit and quality initiatives. Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams in both the acute trust and community. The post holder will rotate between acute hospital and community clinic settings. Will provide sound clinical knowledge in the field of anti-cancer drugs and have the skills necessary to provide care to patients and carer's received said treatments. In the absence of a senior nurse, maintain a safe level of nursing, taking remedial action and reporting to senior staff when this cannot be achieved. Maintains the service to meet standards and outcomes identified by the seniornurse in charge in accordance with national evidenced based guidelines.
Required to administer drugs, including bolus and infusion chemotherapy in accordance to trust policy. Required to perform venepuncture in accordance with trust policy. Undertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the patient ad register any additional skills required. Participate in cancer peer review. Maintains the trust aims and objectives within the clinical setting.
