Design Engineer, up to £50K DOE, Permanent position, No weekend work, Monday to Friday, flexible working hours, modern working environment.
A bespoke vehicle manufacturer requires a Design Engineer to join their team. The company has a reputation for the quality of fit-for-purpose vehicles - Engineered to the specific needs of the customer.
Location of the position: Elland
This is a newly formed role and as such, a high level of CAD and experience delivering a managed design process within a manufacturing or automotive engineering environment is essential.
The successful candidate will be able to lead a project and work collaboratively with the production team. Engage with senior leadership regularly, reporting on project statuses, activities, and achievements using KPIs. Work with both internal and external customers to satisfy all areas whilst within budgetary requirements.
A working knowledge of sheet metal materials and manufacturing processes is imperative, as well as an understanding of laser cutting.
Key duties of the Design Engineer position:
* Developing and implementing efficient, scalable manufacturing processes for current and new products.
* Integrate automation solutions to minimise reliance on manual labour and improve production efficiency.
* Creating detailed digital representations using CAD software.
* Keeping compliant with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations.
* Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
* Validate and monitor manufacturing processes, adjusting to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are met.
* Prepare documents, technical specifications, and reports for internal review and regulatory compliance.
* Work with the Technical Director to ensure innovation is at an optimum. Maintain proper records of research findings and test results.
* Research and choose optimal materials that balance durability, cost, environmental impact, and aesthetics.
* Support existing processes to enhance safety, reduce costs, and improve quality and consistency.
Skills and Qualifications for the Design Engineer position:
* Degree or HNC/HND qualification with an Engineering/Manufacturing background.
* Proficient with SolidWorks.
* Manufacturing industry knowledge.
* Knowledge of sheet metal materials and manufacturing processes.
* Understanding of laser cutting.
* Exceptional communication skills.
* Knowledge of Microsoft suite.
* Excellent time management and attention to detail.
