Deliver a high standard of swimming instruction within the Councils learn to swim scheme and to undertake all associated tasks in relation to this.

This role may require flexible, evening and weekend working.

While the positions are initially advertised as being on a fixed-term contract, there is potential for them to become permanent depending on business needs. Additionally, there will be opportunities to pick up extra hours on a relief basis during our busy after-school lessons. Consideration will also be given to those candidates who may only be able to work part of the hours stated below.

Monday: 9.30-11.30 & 11.45-13.45

Tuesday: 9.30-11.30

Thursday: 9.30-11.30 & 11.45-13.45
\n
Friday: 12.00-14.00

Fixed term for a period not exceeding 20/12/2025

Requirements
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

This post has a minimum requirement of one reference, which must be your current or most recent employer.
Responsibilities
Post hours are set to cover Preschool swimming lessons, with a with potential of upskilling to instruct Adult & Child classes, if interested. For candidates that already hold an Early Years Swimming Teacher Qualification, there would be an option teach a mix of Adult & Child and Preschool swimming lessons, without the need to upskill. Ideally, the successful candidate would hold a SSTQ or ASA/STA UKCC Teaching Aquatics Level 1 qualification or above, however, there will be training opportunities for suitable candidates to gain the SSTQ qualification within six months.
