This is an engaging and exciting opportunity to join Sarah Gibson MP's team, supporting her in the constituency of Chippenham as an executive officer. We need a social media savvy communicator who understands local issues and can organise events that bring communities together.
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours, including assisting with events with the MP as requested. The role includes travel to Westminster when appropriate.
Upon appointment, you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
Please note that the role holder will need to be able to drive and have their own car (expenses are paid for travel within the constituency).
Key responsibilities:
* Assist in the compilation of briefing packs
* Assist in the updating of social media on request
* Establish, monitor, and update social media and online presence in the constituency.
* Produce online graphics and video content, as well as publicising surgeries and news alerts etc.
* Assist in the writing of speeches
* Assist with arrangements for events; this may include: venue research and bookings; compiling and managing guest-lists; liaising with suppliers; and providing on-the-day event support as required
* Database management using office software (e.g. Microsoft Office) to handle administrative cases
* Efficient data and file management to ensure the office complies with the data protection legislation
* Engage professionally, confidentially and with care and integrity with members of the public, through a variety of methods
* Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately in accordance with the MP.
* Handling administrative arrangements for meetings with members of the public/MP surgeries
* Minute taking
* Open, handle and action email, post and social media enquiries
* Photocopying, filing, record-keeping and typing correspondence
* Accompany the MP to constituency visits and assist with all relevant communication with stakeholders - including with journalists, constituents, and businesses.
Essential Skills/Experience
* A keen interest in current affairs and local issues
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise a demanding workload to meet strict deadlines, while maintaining a strong attention to detail
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to handle challenging situations
* Good knowledge of Meta Business Suite and other social media platforms
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats
* Full driving license (there will be a need to drive around the constituency on occasion)

Pay: £25,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
