Job Description
United Living are recruiting for a GIS Technician to join our growing Major Projects team to provide engineering support for major infrastructure projects. This is a project role, based at our head office at Warrington and requiring travel to work at our project office in Stanlow, Cheshire.
All of the projects being developed by the Major Projects team are Nationally Significant Infrastructure projects across the UK, the first being a Carbon Capture Pipeline in the North West commencing from January 2025.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Data and Product Management:
Develop and maintain spatial databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
Collect, compile, and analyse spatial data from various sources, including satellite imagery, aerial photographs, field surveys and progress reports.
Conduct quality control and quality assurance checks on GIS data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Ensure data and drawings meet industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
Create and update maps, charts, and other visualizations to effectively communicate spatial information to stakeholders.
Manage the project ArcGIS Online platform, ensuring timely delivery of information across the project.
Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure digital interfaces function and data benefits are maximised.
2. System Functionality:
Utilize ArcGIS Pro software to create detailed spatial analysis and assessments.
Perform spatial analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships in data.
Conduct system functionality assessments to ensure optimal performance of the designed systems.
Identify and resolve issues related to system integration, performance, and reliability.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Technical Expertise:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS into project planning, decision-making, and problem-solving processes.
Provide technical support and training to staff members on GIS software, tools, and techniques.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Assist in the development and implementation of GIS policies, procedures, and standards.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including project progress reports.
Present project updates and technical findings to stakeholders and senior management.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in working with large spatial datasets in ArcGIS. We particularly seek candidates with experience of managing spatial data on linear construction projects. 3 - 5 years experience of working in a similar role preferred.
Organisational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and coordinate activities across multiple activities.
Strong understanding of spatial data analysis and reporting relevant to infrastructure projects. Prior experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, with some experience of Python and SQL preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to contribute and work well with a team and takes ownership of all GIS matters.

Qualifications:
Relevant degree that provides a solid foundation such as Bachelor’s in Geography, or closely related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Additional Information:
Must be highly computer literate including Microsoft Office and confident in managing and working with data.
Must be a good time keeper. This job is a full-time role, 8am-5pm Monday to Friday.
This is an office-based role working with the management team at the head office at Lingley Mere, Warrington and on site with projects as required.
