We’re looking for a creative, digitally savvy Senior Digital Editor to take our digital presence to the next level and play a pivotal role in sharing stories that resonate with the modern, conscious traveller. The Role: As Senior Digital Editor, you’ll have the unique opportunity to shape Wanderlust’s digital voice and lead our online content strategy. This is a dynamic, hands-on position for someone passionate about crafting powerful, immersive stories. In addition to writing, curating, and editing content, you’ll be overseeing our social media channels, managing website communications, and playing a key role in our editorial direction. This role requires an individual ready to represent Wanderlust at industry events both locally and abroad, highlighting our commitment to sustainability, our travel ethos and the “Year of Locals” editorial theme for 2025. Key Responsibilities: Content Creation & Strategy: Write, commission, edit, refresh and upload high-quality digital content that reflects Wanderlust’s mission to inspire deeper, more authentic travel experiences. Working alongside the Editor in Chief, you will drive content strategy and oversee editorial planning to ensure timely and relevant stories across all digital platforms, as well as helping with the print edition of the magazine as and where needed. Further still, working with the Founding Editor, you will advance the ethos that has kept Wanderlust relevant for the last three decades. Social Media Leadership: Oversee Wanderlust’s social media channels, managing content that engages our community and grows our audience. You’ll work closely with the social media team to develop and implement strategies that keep Wanderlust top of mind for travel enthusiasts. Website Management: Lead the content management and communications strategy for our website, ensuring it remains an engaging, accessible resource for our audience. Regularly update, repurpose and optimise the site’s content, keeping our digital presence fresh, responsive, and relevant. Produce newsletters (currently twice-weekly) as well as email communications with readers. Event Representation: Serve as a key ambassador for Wanderlust at events in the UK and internationally, helping build our brand’s reputation and network within the industry. This may involve weekend, evening and multi-day travel to conferences, events and festivals that align with Wanderlust’s values and mission. Collaboration & Community Engagement: Work closely with the partnerships and editorial teams to align content and partnership strategies. Foster engagement with our audience across platforms, creating stories that highlight local cultures, sustainable practices, and unique travel experiences. Technical Skills: Editorial Tools: Proficiency in WordPress and the Adobe Creative Suite is essential for effective management of our digital platforms and content assets. SEO Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEO best practices to ensure content is optimized for search visibility. Digital Media Skills: Familiarity with CMS, analytics tools, and social media management platforms to monitor performance and refine strategy as needed. Who We’re Looking For: Experienced Editor: A minimum of 3 years in digital editing or journalism, with a proven portfolio that demonstrates versatility and creativity. You’ll have a sharp eye for detail, be a fast and thorough copy editor, and be expert at heads and sells that people want to click on. You’ll have a good eye for top content and visually-striking images Travel Enthusiast: A deep understanding and appreciation for sustainable, authentic travel that aligns with Wanderlust’s ethos. Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with digital tools and experienced in WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite, with the ability to create, publish, and optimize digital content. Proactive & Creative Thinker: Strong idea generator with the ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
