Structural Analysis Engineer

About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity has become available for an engaged and innovative Structural Analysis Engineer in the Mechanical Design group.
Reporting to one of the Lead Structural Design Engineers, you will create and deliver ‘Right First Time’ engineering solutions that make a tangible contribution to the team success.
You will work collaboratively as part of a design group, applying your thoughtful and curious nature to a range of stimulating challenges to meet the increasing demand and requirements across a range of disciplines.
Key Accountabilities (Duties):
1. Delivery of optimum race-car parts and assemblies in collaboration with Mechanical Design Engineers.
2. The structural analysis of car and test rig components/assemblies to the required standards making use of both finite element and hand calculations.
3. Close collaboration and teamwork with other engineering departments to achieve car performance and reliability goals and objectives.
4. Maintaining accurate documentation through the design process in the form of reports including FE results and supporting calculations.
5. Supporting the components and assemblies assigned to you through the various stages of life, from inception and design through lab testing and in-service life.
6. Supporting the race team during occasional race weekends and track-test events.
7. Supporting engineering activities outside of motorsport as part of our Applied Science programmes.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
1. An engineering degree (2:1 minimum grade) with experience in a high-performance engineering industry.
2. A knowledge of Motorsport Engineering would be advantageous.
3. Thorough understanding of finite element and hand calculation methods.
4. Knowledge in fatigue, non-linear material behaviour and contact analysis would be preferable.
5. Good demonstrable experience in FEA packages Hyperworks and Abaqus (FE-Safe, nCode or FemFat a plus).
6. Knowledge in composite materials and FE modelling would be an advantage.
7. Communication and collaboration skills needed to thrive in our exceptional, diverse, no-blame environment.
8. An ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently with all members of the organisation.
9. Experience of 3DX design is of benefit as well as proficiency in Excel.
10. Experience with optimisation software like Optistruct, Tosca or Genesis would be highly beneficial.
