My client is an established Housing provider based in East Lancashire looking to recruit a Housing Officer to join their team. This is a new service which has been opened recently, supporting vulnerable individuals dealing with various issues such as homelessness, substance misuse, previous criminal convictions, and mental health challenges.
As the Housing Officer, you will be reporting directly to the Team Leader and will be managing a caseload of clients under your care and support.
Responsibilities:
* To complete all moving in documents and upload them to the system.
* Collect and chase up Service Charge payments and keep track of payments on the system.
* Perform evictions and ensure everything is completed in a timely and safe manner.
* Liaise with colleagues to ensure void targets are met and properties are let within the agreed timescale.
* Respond to enquiries by tenants relating to the terms and conditions of their tenancy agreement.
* Support tenants with rent arrears and offer advice on managing money and debt.
* Carry out H&S and fire checks and assessments, liaising closely with others to ensure that follow-up actions are completed.
* Liaise with support officers to provide effective prevention and management of rent issues.
Key Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:
* Ability to work with vulnerable adults with complex needs (such as substance misuse, physical health, mental health, seeking employment, and housing support).
* Understanding of safeguarding.
* Understanding and commitment to the provider's values.
* A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with challenging behaviours and a variety of different backgrounds.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
* Ability to develop person-centred support and move-on planning.
* Must have access to own vehicle, a full UK license, and will be required to have an enhanced DBS certificate issued within the last 12 months; being on the DBS update service is preferred.
The Housing Officer will play an integral part in the journey of the vulnerable people they will be supporting. The successful Housing Officer will ensure they follow all policies and procedures to contribute to the running of a successful and much-needed service.
This is a temporary role with the scope to become permanent after a few months. The formal process to apply for the permanent vacancy will need to be carried out. The Housing Officer will have a full UK driving license and have access to their own car.
Candidates who have a work background in supported living or residential care may be considered depending on certain contributing factors and transferable skills, as well as a genuine passion to work in the supported housing and accommodation sector.
