You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities of Autism Support Worker Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for students with ASD, tailoring educational activities and resources to meet the specific needs of each student. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD, helping them understand and complete their work, and providing additional explanations and assistance as needed. Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary. Participate in meetings and discussions to share insights and strategies for supporting each student’s learning and well-being. Help foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included. Employ different instructional techniques and materials to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Keep detailed notes on each student’s development and communicate this information to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties. Requirements of Autism Support Worker Experience working with students with ASD. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive and supportive relationships. Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community. Show a deep commitment to helping students with ASD by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions. Additional qualifications or training in special education are advantageous but not mandatory, providing you with additional skills and knowledge to support students with ASD effectively.
