The Role
GP post CCT Fellowship x 1 2025 (0.20 FTE)
Accountable to the Head of Primary Care Teaching. This one-year post is funded by NHS England as part of their GP post CCT Fellowship Programme. As this will be a developmental post, the post holder will be expected to complete the Newcastle University Certificate in Medical Education (or the Diploma or Masters, or alternative if the Certificate/Diploma/Masters has already been obtained). There will be financial support from NHS England towards course fees and other development needs.

Key Accountabilities
The appointee will join the primary care team of GP Lecturers at the School of Medical Education, led by Professor Hugh Alberti (Head of Primary Care Teaching).
You will:
Deliver teaching to medical students, from years one through to years five, predominantly based at the medical school but also in General Practice across the region,
* Develop and help steer the development of the new curriculum to ensure a generalist approach is taken, and develop clinical reasoning and integration,
* More broadly be involved in other aspects of education such as exam marking, case writing, etc,
* Be involved in allied health care professionals teaching such as the Physician Associates undergraduate course,
* Be involved in educational research projects particularly focusing on promoting GP as a career to medical students (previous projects by teaching fellows have been presented at national conferences and published in medical journals [1,2]),
* Be funded by NHS England to undertake the Certificate in Medical Education (or diploma or masters of already undertaken the certificate).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* To manage own teaching, scholarly and administrative activities,
* To teach as a member of the team,
* Carrying out teaching within a clear and established programme,
* Developing own teaching materials,
* Contributing to decisions affecting the work of the primary care team.
The Person (Essential)
This post is aimed at primary care doctors who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in the field of Medical Education and who are either in ST3 and about to complete their training, or have completed their General Practice training.
Outside of this post’s sessions, it is expected that you will be continuing other self-sought clinical work (whether this be locum, salaried or a partner post.)

Qualifications
Essential:
* Medical degree,
* Current registration with the GMC and licence to practise,
* MRCGP (or about to complete prior to the post commencing).

* Educational qualification.
