Responsibilities
Prepare and process histology specimens for examination by pathologists.
Perform routine and advanced staining techniques on tissue sections.
Maintain accurate records of specimens and laboratory activities.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality control procedures.
Utilize laboratory equipment effectively and perform routine maintenance on machines.
Assist in the training and orientation of new staff and students in the laboratory.
Collaborate with pathologists to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic results.
Requirements
Completion of a relevant associate or bachelor's degree in laboratory science or a related field.
Certification or eligibility for certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by a recognized accrediting body.
Proven experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in anatomical pathology.
Strong understanding of histopathology techniques and laboratory safety protocols.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members and healthcare professionals.
Hours Per Hour: 36.00
Start Time: 08:45
End Time: 17:15
Pay Per Hour: £23.74
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
