We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking staff to join our team at the Central Main Kitchen Facility where all the meals for the hospital are produced. The successful candidates will be involved in all aspects of the work undertaken at the Central Main Kitchen Facility and will be required to work flexibly to cover duties. You will also be required to provide cover in other areas of the Catering Department including dining rooms and patient kitchens.
The Catering Department utilises the expertise of the caterers and the clinical experience of the dietitians to ensure that patients receive high quality, appropriate and nutritionally adequate food.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To be responsible for general cleaning of the CPU and disposal of food waste.
2. Food handling related duties in the provision of meals to patients, staff and other customers.
3. The Department is responsible for the food service to staff and visitors through its outlets in dining rooms, vending machines and delicatessen bars.
4. The Catering Department provides training in food hygiene to other health professionals within the Trust.
5. Basic food preparation including making up salads, sandwiches, etc.
6. Assembly of patient and staff meals prior to distribution.
7. Packing, sealing and labelling of meals.
8. General and deep cleaning of the premises and equipment, including the use of heavy duty cleaning appliances.

Person Specification
Further Training
* Evidence of attending a nationally recognised food hygiene course e.g., CIEH or working towards one.
* Moving & Manual Handling.
* Health & Safety.
* Training on Equality & Diversity.
* NVQ Level 1 -Multi-skilled Food Service.
Qualifications
* GCSE English & Maths Grade A/9 - C/4 or equivalent qualifications or equivalent experience.
* CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety Certificate or equivalent.
* NVQ or apprenticeship in a Catering subject.
Experience
* Substantial relative catering and cleaning experience.
* Knowledge of allergens.
* Experience of working in a team.
Special Skills
* Team working/ability to build relationships.
Other Factors
* Good understanding of relevant hygiene standards.
* Demonstrate flexibility to meet the needs of the service. Working across sites may be required.
* Ability to work in a chilled and frozen environment.

Salary: £23,615 a year pro rata for part time staff.
