About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Unit at a school we are supporting in Small Heath. As a SEN Support Staff Member, you will work closely with children who have a range of learning and additional needs, providing tailored support to ensure they reach their full potential.

The role is suitable for individuals with experience in special educational needs or those eager to learn and develop in this important area.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with special educational needs, including learning, physical, and/or emotional challenges.
- Work under the guidance of the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and class teachers to implement tailored learning plans and interventions.
- Assist in the development and delivery of differentiated learning activities to support individual pupil progress.
- Promote positive behavior and help create an inclusive, nurturing environment for all pupils.
- Help pupils with personal care needs (if required).
- Support pupils during break times and lunch periods to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Keep accurate records of pupil progress and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the school's SEN provision.
Person Specification
- A genuine interest in working with children with special educational needs.
- Experience working with children, ideally in an educational or childcare setting, is desirable but not essential.
- A patient, understanding, and empathetic approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to think creatively to support individual learners.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Any relevant qualifications or training such as a TA qualification, SEN training, or first aid certification would be advantageous.
