About the role
The Finance Service in Cambridgeshire is focused on stewardship of funds on behalf of local taxpayers and promoting value for money across the County Council. We are a diverse team of finance professionals which is highly regarded across the organisation.
Within the Finance Service, our corporate finance team delivers technical accounting work on financial accounts, treasury, tax and control.
We have a need to boost the level of support in the area of financial reporting as we focus on delivering accounts and audits to the statutory deadlines, implementing new accounting standards and continuously improving our financial control processes.
This role will focus on leading the financial accounts production and other technical accounting matters, excluding fixed assets.
We work on a hybrid basis at Cambridgeshire, with teams coming into the office together around two days per week, with the option to be home or office based for the rest of the week.
What will you be doing?
You will be undertaking the necessary preparatory, consolidation and accounting work to deliver out year-end statement of accounts. Working with other specialists in the team who input particularly into fixed assets and technical matters, you will take the lead on accounts production.
You will have a central role working closely with the Strategic Finance Manager for Corporate Finance, the Head of Finance and colleagues across the whole Finance team to make improvements to corporate accounting processes.
About you
We are looking to appoint a committed and self-motivated financial professional to input into the expert financial services in the corporate finance team.
You will need to be a fully or part-qualified accountant and be able to demonstrate experience in delivering statutory local government accounts.
