Role: Parent Support Worker (Child Exploitation) Based: West Yorkshire (Hybrid) Days: 4 days a week Rate: £17 – 18 per hour (Dependent on experience) Start Date: ASAP – Nov/ Dec 2024 Length: Until April with the possibility of an extension Our client, a leading provider of support to parents whose child(ren) are experiencing/ have experienced exploitation, is looking for a Parent Liaison Worker to support parents across the UK as part of their West Yorkshire based services. The organisation is an expert in this field and works to influence national and local policy and practice to reflect the active safeguarding role of parents and the impact on families of child exploitation. The Role: Providing support and advocacy to parents and carers whose child/ren have been/ are being sexually and criminally exploited Managing a caseload of 15-20 clients and supporting them in accessing services ensuring their voice is heard and advocating on their behalf with a range of partner, agencies and statutory services (including Social Services, the Police and Legal Professionals) Working with the parents and carers to provide support and guidance to enable them to safeguard their child from exploitation Supporting parents (and families) with both practical and emotional needs including mental health, substance misuse, housing and legal needs Forming and maintaining professional, supportive, empowering relationships with the parents/carers affected by child sexual exploitation Attending professional agency meetings (including CORE Group and Child Protection) and advocate on the parents/ carers behalf Working with parents and partners to disrupt and bring exploiters to justice You will work with multi-agency partners to tackle child exploitation as an independent source of support and contact for parents and carers whose children are being sexually and criminally exploited Liaising between statutory agencies and families to maximise the ability of all parties to safeguard a child at risk of/or being sexually and criminally exploited To ensure that the service is delivered effectively, efficiently and managed in line with local and organisational protocols, policies, procedures, and practice standards What are they looking for? They are looking for someone who has a solid working knowledge of child exploitation, child protection, youth justice and/ or family support. You will have supported vulnerable adults (specifically families/ parents) previously and have an strong knowledge of safeguarding. A background in Family Support, Supported Housing, Social Services, Police (Child Protection/ specialist Domestic Abuse/ County Lines Teams in particular), Advocacy Services (IDVA, ISVA), and/ or Probation would be desirable.
