About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Contract Manager to join our Commercial Team at Torness Power Station, overseeing approximately £30 million annually.
In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with key partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to support statutory outages, core works, and investment delivery activities essential for station maintenance.
The Opportunity
The UK nuclear sector is undergoing significant transformation, with emerging competitors, evolving technologies, and increasing client demands. Torness is adapting to these changes while extending its operational life and preparing for defueling and deconstruction phases. As Contract Manager, you will play a central role in these developments, working closely with the Contract Manager Lead and Commercial Manager to manage major contracts.
You will be expected to demonstrate commercial leadership, agility, and diligence to drive contract performance. This involves close collaboration with Outage Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Quality Assurance teams, cultivating strong supplier relationships and identifying opportunities for commercial and service improvements.
This role offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of key agreements and deliver outstanding service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Pay, Benefits, and Culture
The salary range for this role is between £45,641 – 95,993; however, we are looking to appoint between £45,641 - £81,263 based on the parameters outlined in the Nuclear Generation Company Agreement, as well as your existing salary, competence, experience, and qualifications.
This is a full-time, site-based position.

What you’ll be doing
As a Contract Manager, your responsibilities will include managing key contractor performance to ensure cost-effectiveness, safety, quality, and productivity in alignment with business needs and contractual obligations.
By building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders while effectively communicating contractual information, you will resolve contract-related issues through dispute resolution processes, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
You will lead contract negotiations to secure favourable terms by identifying and implementing commercial efficiencies and service improvements across operational contracts.
Managing contract close-outs, reviewing contracts for extension or renewal, and supporting procurement teams in re-procurement where necessary is also a responsibility.
Who you are
To succeed in this role, you should have a HNC or equivalent qualification in a business, technical or commercial discipline as a minimum.
You will demonstrate significant contract management experience developed working with a main contractor. Financial control expertise, including cost management, is advantageous.
As a self-motivated person with exceptional attention to detail and excellent communication and analytical skills, you will bring a strong ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrating a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel and the ability to meet deadlines efficiently, SAP experience is preferred but not essential, while knowledge of NEC Contracts is beneficial but not required.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for the last 3 to 5 years.
