The Position
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Professional to join our team and make a significant impact on our organisation's Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards. You are empowered to develop and implement EHS policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with both external regulations and internal standards, with the authority to halt work if unsafe practices are identified. In this role:
* You are encompassed with the authority to conduct safety audits, on-site inspections, and investigations into environmental or safety incidents, with the autonomy to identify risks and propose enhancements.
* You will be setting objectives and delivering results that significantly impact the company, translating departmental plans into operational EHS goals.
* You are used to working in wet-lab environment and are skilled in teaming up with leaders and employees to secure a well-functioning and safe working space
* Coordination with various stakeholders, including the community and environmental groups, is crucial to maintain relationships and address environmental performance impacts.
* Independent decision-making and ability to communicate clearly and broadly to resolve complex issues to achieve EHS targets in a meaningful, precise manner.
It is a full-time position with presence in our Oxford office required 4 times per week.
Qualifications
We are searching for a skilled communicator who demonstrates the ability to identify, define, and develop solutions to complex EHS challenges. It is a hands-on position where we expect our candidates to meet the following qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field, along with UK recognised H&S professional qualifications, e.g., NEBOSH
* Experience in developing and managing EHS programmes.
* Experience from a wet-lab environment required, alternatively hands on experience from another highly regulated lab-context
* Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
* Deep understanding of EHS regulations and standards and ability to investigate environmental or safety incidents.
* Strong ability to identify potential environmental and safety risks and to conduct thorough safety audits and on-site inspections.
* Skilled in crafting and executing policies and procedures and ability to communicate these is a clear, concise manner.
* Proficient in maintaining relationships with community and environmental groups.
* Desire to work in an international environment and role-model a strong EHS mindset across cultures and roles.
* Desire to team up with colleagues and leaders to secure a world class EHS organisation
About the Department
You will be a part of an international team that supports activities across the Novo Nordisk value chain in our Research Hub in Oxford and our Digital Hub in London. Our ambition is to collaborate across countries and areas to make sure that we are doing things right whilst supporting a fast paced and innovation led business. Currently we are more than 200 colleagues in Oxford and London.
