You’ll work closely with the classroom teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to provide tailored support for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that every child has the best possible chance to succeed. Whether it's supporting in lessons, promoting social skills, or assisting with emotional development, your work will truly make a difference. ✨
Key Responsibilities:
✨ Provide Tailored Support: Assist children with SEN on a 1:1 or small group basis, adapting learning strategies to meet their individual needs.
✨ Promote Independence: Encourage children to develop their independence and self-confidence, fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
✨ Assist with Learning Activities: Support children with literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects, adjusting tasks to ensure accessibility and understanding.
✨ Monitor and Track Progress: Work with the teacher and SENCO to monitor progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
✨ Create a Positive Learning Environment: Help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and able to succeed.
✨ Collaborate with Teachers and Parents: Provide regular updates to teachers and work with parents to ensure consistency and progress in the child’s learning and development.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience: Experience supporting children with SEN, or working in a school or care setting.
Patience & Empathy: A patient, empathetic approach is essential, particularly when working with children who may have complex learning needs.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with children, teachers, and parents.
Flexibility & Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching strategies and approaches to meet the varying needs of students with SEN.
Qualifications: A relevant qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant, SEN-specific training) is an advantage but not essential—what’s important is your passion and dedication to helping children.
