Job Description
ICR are looking for a Graduate Technical Engineer to join the Composites Engineering team, based in Aberdeen.
The Graduate Technical Engineer will provide technical support to various stakeholders ensuring technical activities are performed in accordance with client specifications in a safe and efficient manner and supporting the business needs of ICR. This role will report to the Senior Technical Engineer/ Technical Director, Composites.
The main tasks include, but are not limited to:
* Perform generic composite repair design calculations.
* Create engineering designs and CAD drawings (AutoCAD) for pipework, pipelines, and structural components.
* Discuss the design calculations inputs and outputs with external clients and where necessary gather data or present solutions.
* Lead research and development projects, including planning the project, conversing with potential suppliers, specimen manufacture and testing.
* Carry out fitness for service of engineered composite repairs.
* Support Sales, Operations and Technicians in all aspects of day to day technical enquiries. Complete Engineering designs and drawings within a reasonable time frame.
* R&D tasks or projects to complete within the given time frame.
* Maintain and where possible, develop ICR’s capability, skills, and knowledge within the discipline alongside the rest of the technical department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Timely and concise responses to technical queries raised by other personnel.
* Timely delivery of new and existing product development ensuring compliance with relevant specifications and within agreed budget.
* Accurate and complete reporting on investigations, including Research and Development, strategic initiatives, and Non-Conformances.
Key Skills, Attributes and Experience:
* Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline
* Previous composite experience in research and development projects, including project planning conversing with potential suppliers, specimen manufacture and testing.
* Knowledge of composite materials and the different processes involved in their use.
* Previous experience in the use of Microsoft Excel and CAD/Drawing packages.
* Excellent communication and organisation skills.
* Ability to problem-solve, multi task and work to tight deadlines.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external clients.
* Presentation skills for internal and external clients.
* Strong report writing skills.
* Self starter that takes a collaborative approach and really enjoys working as part of a team.
* Ability to work on own initiative and self manage own workload.
* Sets high standards in quality of work and excellent attention to detail.
