NHS Property Services enables excellent patient care by acting as a trusted property advisor to the NHS by providing the best estate solutions.
We manage 2,700 properties with 6,300 customers across England, which accounts for approximately 10% of the total NHS estate. Our properties range from listed buildings to new integrated care centres and include hospitals, GP practices and offices.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Finance Shared Services function, supporting our Energy & Environment (E&E) team and Responsible Business (RB) business partners. Based in London and Stockport, this role allows you to expand your skills and make a significant impact within NHS Property Services.

What you will do
* Triage, categorise, and allocate queries received to the utilities mailbox. Respond to queries regarding utility invoices, budgets, site works, contract queries, EPCs/DECs, changes of tenancy, and consumption data requests.
* Ensure accurate delivery of data in response to requests, including collating data from multiple sources and preparing documents such as change of tenancy forms, refund requests, and site works forms.
* Assist with monthly consolidated billing activities, including invoice distribution, uploads, storage, and approval.
* Address payment issues, including supplier queries and changes in e-bill formats.
* Raise and receipt relevant purchase orders for the Utilities Team.
* Validate files received from third parties, such as budget files and value evidence.
* Work collaboratively with others to provide information and resolve issues, handling queries within agreed guidelines and timescales.
* Proactively review utility costs to identify sites under NHSPS liability and transition them to collective contracts where feasible.
* Produce sustainability data and create reports for internal and external statements, including usage reports on agreed timescales.
* Ensure adherence to key financial controls and internal business processes, contributing to the documentation and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
* Maintain and review system records to ensure accurate data is held, completing regular data validation checks.
* Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, escalating for line management intervention as required.
* Continuously review and improve key processes and controls to drive efficiencies and accuracy in end-to-end processes.
Who you are
* Dedicated finance professional with a strong understanding of double entry accounting, management accounting, and reporting.
* Experience in dealing with a variety of stakeholders.
* Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, EDH, Outlook, and Teams.
* Demonstrates confidence, communicates clearly, and delivers information in a way that makes a positive and professional impression.
* Pays attention to detail, avoids making assumptions, and finds ways to overcome problems, escalating issues appropriately.
* Responds professionally and effectively at every customer contact point, takes ownership of customer problems, and responds efficiently with possible solutions.
* Tenacious under difficult circumstances, open to feedback, adapts approach when required, and maintains a “can-do” positive outlook.
