We have a fantastic opportunity for a Protective Security Lead. This position reports into the Security controller and is a key role within the MTC Security Team, with responsibility for protecting MTC’s operating environments.
You will act as the Site Security Officer for the MTC Coventry and will oversee and take responsibility for the compliant and effective management of the following areas:
1. Physical Security.
2. Guarding/Security Control Room Operations.
3. Access Control Measures.
4. Visit and Event Security (including VIP visits).
5. Security Policy.
6. Counter Terrorist Response Measures (CTRM) and Planning.
You’ll also oversee Supply Chain assurance activity to assess, monitor, track and manage any 3rd party Supply Chain security risks.
You’ll work with a range of stakeholders internally and externally and provide input, guidance, and direction as required within your domain of expertise and responsibility into the following forums:
1. MTC Security Working group (Internal).
2. MTC Security Working Group (External).
3. Strategic Security Risk Board (SSRB).
This role will ensure that mandated security controls are operating effectively, and evidence-based assurance activities are conducted at Line 2 to demonstrate to external National Authorities that MTC are operating within the parameters of relevant regulation and in accordance with MoD and DNO regulation and risk appetite.
As MTC’s Protective Security Lead you will:
1. Take responsibility for all Protective Security risks within your domain of responsibility to ensure proportionate, risk-balanced and proportionate risk management, threat mitigation and management, compliance and assurance activities across the MTC enterprise.
2. Provide Investigative Security support to MTC Security Controller and Head of Security as required to support both internal and/or (when required) any external security investigations.
3. Deliver effective Problem Management/Resolution outcomes to complex security challenges/problems in order to develop and implement compliant risk-balanced solutions/outcomes at pace and with agility.
4. Act as a positive ambassador for MTC in engaging with key external stakeholders at the operational level.
5. Ensure continuous and targeted Training, Education & Awareness to MTC staff as required.
6. Drive continuous improvement and effective capability resilience measures, including professional skills and competence development within your security domain and area of responsibility.
We’re looking for somebody who can demonstrate:
1. Relevant experience and evidence of skills and capabilities acquired and successfully applied within a Defence/Government Industry facing operating environment.
2. Evidence of balanced judgement and decision making in relation to complex security problems in order to develop proportionate risk-balanced outcomes.
3. A good level of knowledge of NPSA and MoD security policy/guidance for protective security.
4. The ability to demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques to address complex security risk related challenges/scenarios.
5. Good collaboration & partnership skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships quickly with key external stakeholders/authorities.
6. An ability to understand, interpret and articulate relevant National Security regulations and policies and apply these in a well-considered, risk-balanced manner to achieve the desired outcomes.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following range and depth of experience to have relevance to the MTC Protective Security Lead role:
1. Experience in managing the physical security/protective security aspects of a complex security operating environment/site.
2. A comprehensive understanding of Defence related Security Policy (JSP 440) in respect of Protective Security aspects.
3. A good understanding of NPSA guidance and tooling for risk-based assessments using the STaMP methodology.
4. A good understanding of NPSA and MoD JSP 440 guidance on CTRM related planning and control measures.
5. A good understanding of CTSA processes for Armed Response planning and response.
