Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a full-time substantive Consultant Psychiatrist for a fantastic opportunity to join a post based in Bury, Manchester. The service operates in a sectorised model and is staffed by 2 wte sector Consultants in Older People Psychiatry. Each Consultant is allocated a Junior Doctor (NW Deanery training schemes) to work with them, alongside GP trainees.
This is an exciting time to join the Trust with many opportunities to contribute to the organisation’s development and to explore service redesign models. Bury has a strong teaching commitment, and candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff and 4th medical students. There are close links with ongoing research projects, and the Consultants contribute to local service user and carer groups.

Responsibilities include:
1. Providing high-quality mental health care for older people with severe and enduring mental health problems, both inpatient and outpatient.
2. Working closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care for older people within the Tameside area.
3. Supporting the development of the service and attending local and divisional service development meetings.
Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion or be within six months of the anticipated award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Older People Psychiatry at the time of interview for the post.
