Our Client is a manufacturer of Aerospace transparencies, this includes anything from aircraft windows to canopies. They are based in Kings norton near birmingham and they are looking for a Buyer with 3 years + experience to join their team.Initially the contract is 3 months long and is paying between £15 and £17 on a PAYE basis dependant on experience or between £19 and £22 if you operate through your own LTD company.Candidates MUST have a minimum of 3 years recent aerospace experience in a direct purchasing role.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.Establish strong relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company\\\'s needs.Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.Foster close working relationships with associated departments eg. Sales, Engineering and Production, Business Development and logistics.Continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spend.Supplier visits within the UK may be required driving license would be required.Expedite materials and place new orders in accordance with daily exceptions generated by MRP.Qualifications and ExperienceCIPS/Business Related qualification or working towards would be beneficialMinimum 3 years previous experience in a Purchasing roleHigh competency level in use of Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimumFull Driving License required.Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base.Fully conversant with modern procurement and purchasing techniques.Experience of Purchasing bespoke, manufactured parts including scheduled deliveries.Experience of working with MRP systems is essential.Direct Supplier and Commodity management experience.Coordinating and managing with Quality personnel, resolutions to Supplier Quality concerns, ensuring timely and effective containment and long term resolution of each concernPersonalStrong communication skillsHands on approach to all tasksAbility to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve resultsVersatile, tenacious and people orientatedResult orientated and confidentProven appreciation of customer service expectations and cost demands of businessCommercial and financial acumenSets priorities taking into account short and long - term needs of the business.
