Job summary Health Protection Nurse or Practitioner Location/base: Agile working - nearest Public Health office Interview date: 26 February 2025 An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse or an appropriately registered practitioner or allied health professional (see person specification) to join the All-Wales Health Protection Team. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with significant experience in health protection and strong leadership skills to work in the field of communicable disease, infection prevention and control, and other aspects of health protection. The post holder will work in partnership with other members of the Health Protection Team and the wider Health Protection Division in the surveillance, prevention and control of a range of infectious diseases and other health protection issues. The post is an agile working post. There will be a requirement for staff to attend the office and work from home. The nature of the job will require significant periods of time using a computer and a telephone. Main duties of the job The post holder will act as a senior member of the All-Wales Acute Response (AWARe) service, taking part in the rota for delivering the acute health protection service, using their specialist knowledge, skills and significant experience in responding to a range of notifications, enquiries and incidents, providing expert health protection advice to other health professionals and members of the public. As a senior member of the team, the post holder will also act as AWARe Coordinator (on a rota with other senior staff) to ensure an effective and efficient acute service ensuring that the highest possible standards are maintained at all times. The post holder will also work with other team members to identify and agree a portfolio of planned proactive work at local and regional level whilst also providing line management to other Health Protection Nurse/Practitioners within the team. This role involves working in collaboration with other agencies and disciplines in the provision of a specialist health protection service for the population of Wales. The post holder will be required to participate in delivering the out-of-hours service which runs Monday to Sunday including bank holidays.
