Main duties of the job Strategic & Corporate Responsibilities Responsible, with other Directors, for leading the delivery of our vision & strategic aims, within a compassionate culture, free from discrimination. Ensuring finances are used well & focussed on delivering objectives, maintaining financial viability & focusing on delivering increasing value for patients via a financially sustainable local health economy. Contribute to the delivery of Trust-wide statutory & non-statutory responsibilities, for the delivery of short- & long-term objectives, for organisational development & for establishing strategies, policies & plans, to ensure future delivery of high quality healthcare. Contribute to the continued corporate development of DPT, coordinating key areas as directed by & agreed with the Chief Executive. Contribute to the achievement of all DPTs objectives, including the quality, financial, workforce & performance targets within DPTs overall corporate governance framework. Bring to attention of the Chief Executive & the Board of Directors any professional issues which might affect DPTs performance or reputational concern. Represent the Trust in terms of PR & other media requirements. Participate in executive management on-call rota. Actively support the achievement of NHS Improvement Single Oversight Framework continuous improvement capability requirement in Leadership & Improvement Capability (Well-led) domain. Qualified accountant and member of either the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or a member of one of the five accountancy institute members of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies: Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) or Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) or Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) or Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland (ICAI) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Experience Essential A substantial and impressive track record of achievement at senior management level/leadership roles in a finance function up to and including Director level in a large comparable, complex organisation. Experience across a wide range of finance function responsibilities. For example financial and management accounting, capital and investment appraisal, commissioning, financial performance management, budgeting and budgetary control, financial planning, financial systems and audit. Evidenced track record driving successful delivery of challenging financial plans in complex, multidisciplinary, professional environment. Experience of developing and implementing strategies in a complex, multidisciplinary environment. Experience of senior leadership across a range of services relevant to the Trust portfolio. Significant experience of leading and delivering change programmes, making decisions and evaluating impact. Experience developing and operating the systems, processes and procedures which are appropriate to ensure the smooth operation of the Finance Function. Experience developing and implementing financial and business planning and strategy, including cost improvement programmes, supported by appropriate modelling and scenario planning. Experience of operational and capacity planning to meet organisational performance targets. Experience of establishing and applying robust performance management systems and accountability frameworks. Experience of working in a high profile, challenging role with an ability to manage conflicting priorities. Significant experience in service planning in a large, complex organisation. Desirable Evidence of strong networks both within & outside the NHS. Experience as a director in a mental health organisation.
