SRG are excited to be working with a leading energy company to help them find a Lab Technician/QC Analyst to work at their site in the north of Scotland.
The role is for a 9-12 month contract with a competitive hourly rate for the right candidate.
This is a great opportunity for someone with working knowledge of analytical techniques including gas chromatography, ion chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography.
The Role:
1. Undertake all aspects of plant chemistry monitoring and chemical analysis
2. Provide fault finding diagnostics and technical advice on all power station plant areas
3. Sample Receipt and booking in administration
4. Analysis using techniques such as GC, HPLC, Karl Fisher, DDF and other analytical methods
5. Results interpretation and reporting
6. Waste management - empty vials/bottles, remove caps, dispose of vials/bottles responsibly
7. Dispose of used oil as per waste management routes and policy
8. Monitor lab consumables, Consumables management - inventory checks ensuring availability and report low stocks, stock and consumables logistics/movement from stores to lab.
Requirements:
9. HND / HNC in chemistry or relevant degree with a minimum of three years' industry experience involving laboratory testing of oils.
10. Working knowledge of analytical techniques including gas chromatography, ion chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography.
11. Sound analytical chemistry covering oil and water testing techniques and analysis.
12. A sound operational knowledge of laboratory test equipment including the ability to use diagnostic skills to fault find, detect and remedy faults.
13. Computer literacy -ability to use complex scientific software.
14. The ability to write technical reports
15. Self-starter attitude and strong problem solving skills.
