The role
As a Fleet Engineering Delivery Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Day to day, you’ll lead, develop and direct a team of engineering line leaders, engineering specialists and Industrial workers to achieve their part of the project and maintain operational performance within the required constraints of safety, quality, schedule and cost.
This will cover various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Combat Systems, Fabrication and Welding. Through which, you will provide a clear interface between the execution of work by the Fleet Engineering team, the wider Fleet Operations Directorate and the Customer.
1. Ensure the highest standards of health and safety in immediate area of responsibility and ensure all team members across Engineering and other functional areas cooperate with the required standards outset by the business.
2. Effective management of engineering output to ensure the technical solutions in line with the agreed technical scope. Apply technical expertise to ensure quality standards are achieved across engineering projects and ensure that any learnings from experience are shared across the Fleet Operations directorate, waterfront and the Joint Submarine Enterprise.
3. Promote effective cooperation across Engineering and other functional teams. Work closely with the wider Fleet Engineering department and the Babcock Fleet Programmes management function to develop and manage demand profiles for internal resources and external subcontractors, to satisfy project requirements and effectively manage any change.
4. Cultivate and maintain stakeholder relationships across key interfaces, internal and external to the business, through the deployment of effective communication and management.
5. Support the development of Engineering capability to meet the demands of the future programme.
6. Maintain a knowledge of industry best practice, promote a culture of engineering best practice and provide leadership in driving cultural developments and change.

Essential experience of the Fleet Engineering Delivery:
7. Experience in the management of multi-disciplined engineering teams on large scale, complex projects within a high regulatory environment.
8. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of safety management within a high risk, complex environment; ensuring their own and their team’s compliance with company and customer procedures/policies, as well as any applicable statutory industry standards to maintain the highest standard of safety and quality in output.
9. Leadership, coaching and mentoring with the ability to influence key stakeholders to ensure a positive safety culture and best practices.
10. Ability to identify and assess complex engineering work packages; effectively planning, preparing and delivering in line with the requirements of agreed KPIs.
11. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders.
12. HR management experience of capability, absence management, recruitment support disciplinary and grievance processes – i.e., Demonstrable experience of the application of HR policies.
This role is full time, 37 hours, 4.5 days a week. Based at HMNB Clyde.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
