Salary:
£34,000 - £37,000 + up to 6% bonus per annum.

What you’ll be doing
As part of a technical team, you will review housing development plans and provide support and advice for housebuilders and their technical/ design teams. Your technical input will cover a range of NHBC Standards, primarily covering the weather resistance of buildings, and involve checking design areas such as walls, roofs, cladding finishes, parapets, cavity trays and basement waterproofing.
You will work with builder customers and their design teams to provide knowledge and technical advice on NHBC Standards, design codes, and other relevant areas to guide them towards compliant solutions that are acceptable to NHBC. You will also work on project coordination to include setting up an inspection regime to support inspectors and attending relevant meetings (which may be via Microsoft Teams) to support customers.
This is a home-based role, and you can look forward to real flexibility and an excellent work/life balance. You will often be expected to travel to client sites and, from time to time to our offices, including our head office in Milton Keynes.
Key elements of the Technical Building Consultant role are to:
14. Lead/ support the management of NHBC’s technical and warranty risks on new build projects.
15. Review and check technical submissions from customers to ensure they comply with NHBC standards.
16. Project co-ordinating and managing the input of other specialists within the risk management project team.
17. Engage, influence, and negotiate with developers and their design teams.
18. Carry out limited site inspection work, as required, to support inspectors, surveyors, and engineers in the project team.
The ideal candidate will have
This opportunity suits individuals who are seeking the next step to gain further experience in the housing sector. You will have some knowledge and experience in housebuilding and construction techniques along with an interest to develop your understanding of building failure mechanisms and building pathology.
You’ll also need:
19. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information.
20. A proactive, self-motivated approach with the willingness to assist customers and colleagues.
21. A minimum of three years of construction or housing building experience, which has involved technical building-related work, with a range of customers/clients from a housing background.
22. Full U.K. Driving Licence.
Education and Qualifications
23. Ideally a Chartered membership of an appropriate professional institution or working towards i.e. MCIOB, BEng, Associate etc.
24. Building/ Construction related Degree or equivalent qualifications i.e. HNC/D diploma.
25. Familiar with I.T. systems and software.
26. Minimum Maths and English GCSE or equivalent i.e. diploma.
