SALES MANAGER / ALTRINCHAM (WA14) / £35,000 BASIC 5% PROFIT SHARE CIRCA £7,500 If you are an experienced Sales Manager looking for the opportunity to join a long-standing business with serious expansion plans, then this could be the role for you. Our client, a family-owned timber merchant and D.I.Y supplier, began trading in 1981 and is based in Altrincham. They are now looking for a hands-on Sales Manager to help develop and grow their business. The business has a stable customer base that requires maintenance and requires a strategic approach to business development. The successful candidate will be a skilled sales and marketing professional who also enjoys time spent developing the product range and widening the customer base and brand reach. The successful applicant for this role will become an integral member of the management team. Whats on Offer? £35,000 P.A. plus 5% profit share circa £7,500 dependent on achievement of company targets. Company pension scheme. Working hours: 8:00 am till 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Alternate Saturdays 8:30 am till 4:00 pm (a weekday off will be given to compensate) 25 days holiday (20 to take as you choose, 5 to be retained for Christmas shutdown). Staff development is encouraged, all courses that are beneficial to the role will be paid for. 25 % discount on all products Key Responsibilities of the Sales Manager: Provide strategic direction and manage employee development through regular 1-2-1s Provide guidance for the development of new product lines and corresponding routes to market Give instructions to and motivate the sales team along with creating a culture of excellent customer service whilst increasing customer spend. Take ownership of and ensure on-going management of an established customer base. The management of an internal team including admin, customer services and sales. Ownership of marketing strategy with primary focus on business development. The retention of existing customers, increasing sales and maximising cross selling opportunities. Ensure customers are served quickly and that all phone calls are answered in a timely manner. Review sales figures with rest of management team and make suggestions for improvements. Work towards KPIs and increase turnover, increasing sales by 10% year on year. Develop strong supplier relationships to ensure best pricing and information on new products. Improve the look and feel of the shop and counter area and drive the creation of monthly special offers, trade days, instore displays and all other marketing material. Skills & Experience Required: Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work on own initiative. Previous Sales Management experience is essential, including people management. Track record of increasing sales and growing customer base - preferably B2C. Negotiate with potential new customers and persuade them to move from existing suppliers to us. Experience of taking new products to market within a retail or manufacturing environment. Experience in strategic marketing with proven market/customer development strategies. You should have a positive outlook and be able to deal with a large range of people and situations. Proven experience of achieving sales targets and growing business Strong IT skills are essential to manage a large customer base. Being able to travel for occasional business and customer visits.
