A bit about the job:
The role will focus on a wide variety of activities supporting effective risk management and oversight for AII (Aviva International Insurance), Aviva’s internal reinsurer. You will be challenged to apply your skills innovatively and creatively to solve complex problems, thinking with a global mindset and actively seeking out ways to enhance the value of the Function in line with Aviva's purpose and values.
You will be responsible for working with the AII Head of Risk and AII Senior Risk Manager to support the AII Chief Risk Officer in the discharge of their responsibilities. The role is particularly focussed on enterprise-wide risks and the Risk Management Framework within AII, with some involvement of actuarial aspects. That includes providing support in capital and actuarial risk areas, including setting and monitoring risk appetites.
As part of the role, you will also:
1. Produce quarterly CRO (Chief Risk Officer) report to the AII Board and any further risk reporting to Group, with support from AII Head of Risk.
2. Support AII Head of Risk in reporting on emerging risks, including regular deep dives.
3. Provide support, oversight, and challenge to 1st line in implementing and maintaining the risk management framework, including operational risk management.
4. Carry out risk review of RCSAs (risk and control self-assessment) and input into management of risks outside tolerance.
5. Produce risk opinions on business decisions throughout the year and input into annual review of the Business Plan.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong experience in report writing, including ability to present to Management Committee meetings.
2. Experience within the insurance industry is necessary, focussing on risk management and/or actuarial, accounting, audit or strategy experience.
3. Qualified actuary, accountant or similar professional qualification (or working towards qualification).
4. Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks for insurers, in particular Solvency II.
5. Ability to rationalise and consolidate large quantities of information, highlighting most material points.
