Design Technology Technician
* £125-£145 per day
* Part time (3 days)
* Immediate start
CER is working in partnership with a school in Castleford to recruit a part time Design Technology Technician. This role is part time (3 days per week) and with an immediate start until July 2025 in the first instance.
Responsibilities will include working alongside students in the workshop, supporting their development of skills, preparing classroom materials/resources, maintaining adequate stock levels and ensuring that routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery is undertaken.
A good knowledge of the required health and safety, most up to date guidance and risk assessment requirements is required, as is the possession of a wide range of practical skills including CAD/CAM, to be able to produce high-quality exemplar materials for projects.

* Adaptability to respond to the changing priorities of the department, school and students
* Flexibility to work within other areas of the Design Technology Department
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Excellent practical knowledge and skills
* Ability to work closely and communicate effectively with students of high school age
* Be computer literate and willing to learn school systems
* Be confident in the use of, and able to maintain, the circular saw and bandsaw
Desirable Skills and Abilities:
* Be familiar with 2D design and Laser Cut
* Able to use CAM machines e.g., laser cutter
* Be confident in the use of working machines e.g., lathes
* Previous technician experience
* Some experience of electronics
* Industrial experience
Requirements for the role
* A valid DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain.
* Two suitable references covering the last two years
