Job summary Your role will bea clinical support post designed to help with clinical and administrative tasks that support ward MDT, including Junior Doctors, Physician Associates and Nursing teams. Examples of duties include phlebotomy, cannulation, preparing discharge summaries, assessing for dementia screening, VTE screening, and liaising with other clinical staff. You will work with the multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for assisting the MDT to improve and maintain high standards of care, health and well-being of patients through assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. 21 hours per week on a shift pattern to support 7 days a week 07:30 - 00:00 Main duties of the job Undertake point of care testing (POCT) of INR when required. Take/record observations/measurements. Any readings deviating from the Trust's normal range are to be reported to a registered professional; Carry out routine urine testing, record results and report any abnormalities; Collect blood and urine specimens and label as required; Phlebotomy; Intravenous cannulation; Blood cultures; Electrocardiogram (ECG) recording; Basic wound care; Assist therapy professionals in carrying out treatment Undertake screening for dementia, Venous Thromboembolism, malnutrition, frailty and others as appropriate; Transport equipment between care settings within the hospital. The DA carries out administrative duties: Update patient list and task list (including electronic versions); Prepare and Print discharge summary; Prepare and manage of patient notes; Check the progress of requested investigations, expediting where necessary; Update patients' investigation results in electronic or physical databases after the results have been scrutinised by registered medical professionals; Book outpatient follow-up and anti-coagulation clinic appointments; Collect/deliver TTO (to take out) medications.
