As the Head of Event Operations, reporting directly to the Sales and Events Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a wide range of internal and commercial events across multiple spaces within the iconic National Theatre. In this leadership role, you’ll drive exceptional results across both quantitative and qualitative KPIs, ensuring the highest standards of service, product consistency, and operational efficiency. You will champion team growth and development, while also playing a key role in advancing our sustainability goals, including supporting our ambitious 2027 Net-Zero transition plan through mindful, impactful decisions.
Responsibilities
1. Event Delivery: Oversee all events, ensuring high standards and responsible alcohol service. Manage client communication and event logistics. Complete H&S paperwork and post-event reporting.
2. Team Management & Training: Supervise event operations team, including staffing, rotas, and training. Oversee inductions, H&S training, and SOP updates.
3. Health & Safety: Conduct H&S audits, update risk assessments, and ensure compliance. Manage food safety, pest control, and equipment maintenance.
4. Equipment & Logistics: Manage event kit, equipment, and logistics coordination. Operate AV & lighting, ensuring maintenance reports. Audit linen contracts and venue upkeep.
5. Financial & Reporting: Manage labor costs, stocktakes, and sales reporting. Oversee event P&L.
6. Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with key partners, suppliers, and internal teams. Ensure supplier compliance with regulations.
7. Other: Support event sales and planning to drive revenue. Prioritize internal event needs, especially for high-profile clients. Promote sustainability in event delivery.
Requirements
1. Experience: Proven senior-level event management experience, preferably in cultural venues or hospitality.
2. Leadership: Strong leadership skills to inspire and develop teams while collaborating with cross-functional partners.
3. Organisation: Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills to manage logistics, staffing, and suppliers.
4. Flexibility: Able to adapt and manage multiple events with agility, adjusting hours as needed.
5. Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of health and safety regulations, ensuring a secure and compliant environment.
6. Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, including labour and stock control, to ensure financial success.
