The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for individuals with substance misuse issues, focusing on harm reduction and health promotion/recovery.

Main duties of the job
You will manage a caseload of often complex patients, providing a through-care service from entry into the prison system to community re-entry, aiming to reduce re-offending and improve health and social functioning.
You will work within a dedicated, passionate Substance Misuse Team, delivering high-quality patient care, and providing leadership to junior staff, ensuring standards and policy adherence.
The Substance Misuse Team is part of the Healthcare Department, which also offers mental and physical health services, providing comprehensive patient care.

The Offender Health Care Group is a leading provider of prison healthcare in the UK, offering physical, mental health, and substance misuse services across prisons in the East Midlands, Lincolnshire, and Leicestershire.
With a team of over 400 healthcare professionals, we provide support and development opportunities, including services within the Personality Disorder Pathway and Veteran Services.
We collaborate with prison services, probation, and other healthcare partners to deliver high-quality, equitable care to reduce re-offending and improve health outcomes.
Note: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has decided to serve notice on its offender health contracts. Transition to a new provider will occur, and successful applicants should be aware that employment may transfer accordingly.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Current professional registration (e.g., nursing, O.T., Social Work) or equivalent experience in structured psychosocial interventions.
* CPD in substance misuse.
Experience
* Community-based multidisciplinary substance misuse work, including voluntary or related fields like housing.
* Working with challenging behaviors, record keeping, report writing, and experience in secure settings.
Knowledge
* Evidence-based psycho-social interventions and local/national strategies like the recovery agenda.
* Understanding of multidisciplinary team roles.
Skills
* Comprehensive assessment, risk evaluation, and excellent communication skills.
* Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
