What skills and experience we're looking for
As a popular and successful school we are always excited to strengthen our team. Modern Foreign Languages are highly valued and continue to thrive at Thomas Gainsborough School. With the support of our Trust and Governors we have increased the take up of languages and provide choices for students at every key stage, this includes the continued offer of A Level teaching in French, German and Spanish. We are looking to employ a new or experienced teacher able to teach French up to A Level and ideally German or Spanish at GCSE. The team is made up of experienced and highly committed teachers of German, French and Spanish.
What the school offers its staff
In September 2015 the school moved into an award-winning new building, where Modern Foreign Languages is taught on a single floor and also in the Sixth Form building. Students have recently enjoyed considerable success progressing to the full range of universities to study a language on either a dedicated language course or alongside another subject. Thomas Gainsborough School is a consistently high performing, well resourced, and truly comprehensive school, with a firm belief in excellence for each and every student, placing students at the heart of their curriculum.
The school continues to invest in high quality professional development and provides a range of employee benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for any teacher to develop their practice and continue their career progression. Supporting staff wellbeing is a priority at all levels. Staff benefit from easy access to technology. Staff and Sixth Form students have their own iPad to use, and class sets of Chromebooks are available when needed. The school also has a two-week October half term break. The school is located just south of Sudbury in Suffolk and is within easy reach of Colchester, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds.
