Role: Furnace Technician Location: Halesowen Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Hours: 37.5 - 40 hours per week Shift: Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Friday: Early finish Are you an experienced Furnace Technician with a strong electrical bias and expertise in gas systems and pyrometry? About the Role As a Furnace Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of all furnaces on-site. You will manage and carry out routine maintenance, calibration, and repair tasks while maintaining meticulous records to support operational excellence. Key responsibilities include: Conducting daily checks to ensure all furnaces are functioning correctly. Performing and documenting system accuracy tests (SATs) and preventative maintenance. Overseeing furnace instrument calibrations, thermocouple calibration, and replacement programs. Maintaining and organizing all calibration records and certificates. Leading and supervising electricians, contractors, and apprentices as part of the Maintenance Team. Attending and contributing to weekly maintenance and production meetings. Supporting long-term succession planning for furnace engineering roles. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will bring: A strong electrical bias with a solid engineering background. Gas Safe certification and practical experience in gas systems. Expertise in pyrometry, including thermocouple calibration and furnace survey schedules. A proactive, detail-oriented approach to maintenance and documentation. Leadership skills to guide and mentor team members effectively.
