Secondment Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse Orthopaedic Ward 3A - Band 6
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic Orthopaedic Trauma Team on ward 3A.
We are a skilled and motivated team that strives to ensure high-quality care is provided to all of our service users. 3A is a friendly and extremely hard-working team - come and be part of it.
The ward provides quality care for orthopaedic trauma as well as elective orthopaedic patients and can have outliers from various sources including Ambulatory Care, A and E, clinics, and specialist nurse referrals. 3A works alongside their trauma coordinators on the ward who refer patients to them directly.
Please note this position is not due to start until April 2025.
Main Duties of the Job
You will be working alongside the Band 7 to ensure the safe running of the department daily and supporting the ward manager with the HR agenda in accordance with Trust policy. The post holder will also support the ward manager in implementing change and maintaining standards of care for patients and developing the education of ward staff.
All support will be given for this transition if you are a dynamic Band 5 and feel the need to take on more responsibility for the ward, which aims to always improve and provide safe and quality care to our patients.
Successful applicants will be given a comprehensive individualised induction programme to develop your skills and knowledge within the department setting around existing skills and knowledge.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with NMC.
* Teaching certificate ENB 998, FLIPS, SPL.
* Registered mentor.
* Evidence of further education and training.
* Degree/diploma or an equivalent level of knowledge in wider healthcare.
* Management certificate.
Previous Experience
* Experience at a band 5 or 6 or equivalent in an acute setting.
* Experience in managing a team.
* Committed to ongoing personal development.
* 2 years experience in an acute hospital setting.
Evidence of Particular Knowledge
* Able to demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills.
* Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
* Evidence of assessing junior staff.
* Demonstrate an ability to motivate staff.
