Your new school
The Rawlett School is part of Lift Schools, a MAT of 57 schools with 10 in the Midlands, which allows you access to the best training programmes available as well as more internal opportunities. The Rawlett School is a secondary school led by a dedicated and ambitious Head of School, Beccie (Rebecca) Walker. Having worked for Lift since 2005, she has spent the last 13 years transforming the culture and teaching at The Rawlett, and she has now established a strong leadership team and is confident to gain a ‘Good’ Ofsted on the next inspection. But she still needs ambitious teachers to be part of this incredibly rewarding, yet challenging, journey and this is an opportunity for you to be part of that as we look to recruit a Teacher of Design Technology. If you really want to make a difference to the lives of young people and share our passion for engaging students in learning and inspiring them to achieve, we would love to hear from you.
Your new role
The head of the Design Technology department joined the school in September and is incredibly strong; since joining, they have re-written our curriculum and revitalised the department. This is an exciting time to join, teach new courses and continue to re-shape the department. The subject is well-regarded by pupils and they’re keen to learn, so this is a really exciting opportunity. The school is very fortunate to have strong links with the community, and this year we are going to JCB for a STEM event in the Spring term, and we also have a project planned with The Inspirational Learning Co and General Electric later in the year. We believe in giving all teachers the opportunity to be great and will support you both personally and professionally to ensure you reach your full potential.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will be a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with strong subject knowledge in Design Technology, strong classroom management skills, and a passion for the subject. You will have a successful track record of improving the education of pupils and know what excellent education looks like in a classroom. Whether you’re in your first year of teaching or your tenth, you will be warmly welcomed and supported here.
We offer you:
* Career development and training: Access a wide range of statutory and developmental training to boost your career.
* Our partnership with One World powers our innovative Instructional Excellence Program. We also offer a comprehensive range of CPD programs, including Ambition Institute's Early Career and NPQ offerings, tailored to both individual and network needs.
* Generous benefits: From your pension plan to healthcare and financial support, we've got you covered.
* Lifestyle perks: Enjoy discounted gym memberships, travel deals, and even electric vehicle incentives.
Closing date: February 3rd
The role is due to commence ASAP, so please don't wait to apply as we will interview candidates on a first come first serve basis. This is a permanent position.
If you would like to have a confidential discussion and/or arrange a tour of the school with Beccie Walker ahead of applying, please contact her PA Hayley at:

Whether they progress to higher education, further education, or the world of work, on leaving Rawlett we are proud that our students are able to make a positive contribution as responsible and caring young people.
We aim to provide students with a wide range of extra-curricular activities to support their personal and academic progress. There are a wide range of sporting opportunities for students of all abilities where traditional and non-traditional games and sports are offered. International School status has helped us develop learning partnerships with schools in other countries to support the focus on skills essential for the 21st century. The curriculum offers students a wide range of opportunities to become good citizens within our local community.
Our academic success continues each year and is based firmly in our belief in our Learning Community between staff, students, and parents/carers where we share the responsibility of nurturing each child to achieve their potential through open communication.

Always looking to improve, Lift Schools shares our values and encourages us to find our remarkable in each and every child.
Our Curriculum
At The Rawlett School, we are proud to offer a curriculum that is well balanced, relevant, and although based on the National Curriculum, not limited by it.
We recognise the importance of reading and have a dedicated reading time each day, when the school stops and reads silently together. In addition to this, all students in Years 7 to 9 have dedicated library lessons. They are also enrolled on the Accelerated Reading scheme, which allows their English teacher to monitor and support their reading progress.
In Key Stage Three, all students have discrete lessons in Art, Citizenship, Design and Technology, English, French or German, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, Performing Arts - Drama, Performing Arts – Music, Philosophy and Ethics (RE), Physical Education (PE), and Science. A small number of students also have additional literacy or numeracy booster lessons.
In Key Stage Four, all students follow a core curriculum of English, Mathematics, Philosophy and Ethics, Science, and PE. They take additional options from a range of courses. We take an individual approach to the English Baccalaureate, encouraging but not forcing students to take the required courses. Details of our curriculum offer, including the exam board specifications, for Years 10 and 11 are published to parents in Year 9 each February.
Our Philosophy and Ethics curriculum has been developed from the Staffordshire Agreed Syllabus and aims to promote the spiritual, moral, and social development of our students and the awareness and understanding of different cultures. At Key Stage Four, all students are prepared to sit a GCSE in Philosophy and Ethics in May/June of Year 10.
In addition to a rigorous approach to supporting our students to achieve the highest standard in GCSE and other qualifications, we also recognise the importance of supporting them to develop their emotional and physical well-being. PSHE topics are delivered through the regular curriculum and a number of focus days during the year. On focus days, we collapse our normal timetable to allow students to learn about a particular emotional, personal, or economic well-being topic in depth.
At Key Stage 3, progress is measured against a series of key ‘I can’ statements that we are developing to describe age-appropriate expectations.
