Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated, professional and caring Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our Theatre team.
Candidates require current UK NMC / HCPC registration for this post.
Ideally you should already have theatre experience in Anaesthetics, Scrub and/or Recovery; however, training in Scrub/Recovery can be provided.
Lymington Surgical Unit comprises of the Theatre Suite, Surgical Outpatients Department with minor procedure treatment facilities, Pre-Assessment, and Day Surgical Ward.
We cover a range of surgical specialties for day surgical patients including Urology, General Surgery, Gynae, Colorectal, Orthopaedics, and Ophthalmic.
This post is based on site at Lymington New Forest Hospital. As part of University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust, there may be a requirement for cross-site working/training at Southampton General Hospital depending on clinical requirements.
Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
* Registered nurse or ODP on relevant part of the register
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Ability to assist in carrying out the transfer of a patient through the intraoperative phase of perioperative care, giving concise accurate handover
* Demonstrate knowledge of the skills required to support learners in practice and to create a positive learning environment
* Practices and promotes the use of evidence-based practice
* Knowledge of current issues within acute health service
* Understanding of personal accountability
* Aptitude for caring for the anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patient
* Experience of teaching and supporting learners in practice
* Experience of working within relevant care setting
* Specialist theatre work-based learning course, or mentorship course, post-qualification
* Interest in research to promote good practice

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year (Per annum - Pro rata)
