Job Description:
My Client is recruiting for a Process Commissioning Engineer in the Water Sector, UK based. The role will involve travel within the UK on a weekly basis, with variable nights away plus the occasional overseas trip.
1. Responsible for leading the wet and process commissioning phase of a project, from the beginning through to handover. This will involve:
1. Hydraulic testing and flushing of equipment.
2. Configuring valves and instruments.
3. Functional testing of equipment and the software interface against the functional design specification.
4. Fault finding and process optimisation of chemical dose rates.
2. Supporting the installation phase and supervision of subcontractors will also be required at times.
3. The role encompasses completing after-sale process audits, checking performance, and providing recommendations and improvements in the form of a formal report.
4. Working under own initiative with minimal supervision to provide our customers with a high-quality service is essential.
5. The role will involve providing process technical support to the client, including delivering training sessions to process operators and engineers.
6. The successful candidate will work closely with other engineering disciplines within the company, providing feedback after each project and helping implement improvements.
7. During times where little commissioning work is required, the role will involve assisting the process design team and producing/reviewing documents such as mass balances, PFDs, process calculations, and P&IDs.
8. The product range applicable to the above will primarily be ballasted clarification systems on wastewater treatment sites, although it will not be limited to this as the product portfolio is likely to grow in the coming years.
Role Delivery:
Will primarily have a responsibility to lead wet and process commissioning site-based activities, having strong process knowledge of wastewater treatment processes. Will solicit guidance, advice, and assistance from control systems engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers whilst directed by the Project Manager, concluding in the successful delivery of a treatment process solution.
1. Responsible for process commissioning and audit work by providing technical support across the full range of Company Products and Systems.
2. Responsible for ensuring that mechanical and electrical installations are completed to good engineering practice and working with in-house engineers to resolve any concerns.
3. Responsibility for Environmental and H&S considerations when on-site, ensuring all relevant control measures are in place in the field. This will include:
1. Generation and completion of relevant risk assessments.
2. Method statements and enforcement/undertaking of all relevant legislative training requirements.
4. The coordination of Company service activities on customer sites to ensure compliance with site rules and requirements.
5. Will act as the face of the Company on customer sites and build relationships & partnerships with our external customers as well as internal colleagues.
6. Responsible for ensuring that all site records and reports pertaining to the installation and commissioning are completed in line with company procedures; and are sent to the project manager or service office within specified time frames.
7. Responsible for providing training to operational staff, and providing feedback to the design team and subsequently working to implement improvements.
8. Producing process design deliverables, including mass balances, PFDs, process calculations, etc.
9. Reviewing both process and other engineering documents, focusing on ensuring the design is suitable for the commissioning phase.
10. Responsible for operating and upkeep of pilot plants and producing reports at the conclusion of trials.
Experience and Qualifications:
1. Engineering Qualification ideally in Process Engineering/Science degree/HNC/HND etc.
2. Ability to work at remote sites either on own or with others, and commitment to varying working hours to meet the needs of the project.
3. Willingness to travel and work in different geographical locations which will necessitate periods of time spent away from home (typically away weekly with variable nights dependent upon business needs).
4. Able to travel and work abroad for short periods of time (typically up to a maximum of 14 days continuous) when opportunities arise.
5. Ability to assimilate information gained on the job and from training materials and courses and apply that learning in the field.
6. Ability to manage own workload and adjust and adapt given work schedule in line with variable business demands.
7. Possesses the ability to read and maintain "As Built Drawings" (electrical, mechanical, P&ID) through to final commissioning in order to ensure that O&M manuals can be updated as may be required.
8. Ideally experience of fault finding, commissioning and maintenance of wastewater treatment-related products and systems.
9. Have an appreciation and familiarity with PLC control systems, functions, and operations. Typical manufacturers are Allen Bradley and Siemens (plc's and HMI's).
10. Possess a basic understanding of working under CDM regulations.
11. Display sound H&S awareness through completed training.
12. Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
13. Ideally hold a valid EUSR Wastewater card.
14. Ideally hold a valid CSCS card.
