Within Army Headquarters, the Army Inspectorate delivers an independent view of assurance across all Army activity focusing on areas that present a risk to life, capability, or reputation. The Army Inspector assesses and reports on breaches of policy and policy failings, identifies areas where the Army is failing to self-regulate, oversees and aids development of compliance, inspection and assurance regimes, and contributes to the process of continuous improvement. This is to provide the Chief of the General Staff (CGS) and the Executive Committee of the Army Board (ECAB) with evidence that internal controls are effective, have been evaluated, and action is in progress to improve. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description As the knowledge management Higher Executive Officer you will track and reconcile recommendations made in Inspectorate reports, including the maintenance of a fully evidenced DLIMS record. You will also lead and drive the Army Inspectorate weak signals process, Exploit ARMS Database to support all Army Inspectorate activities and support SO1 Policy in managing and exploiting information. As a member of the policy team, you contribute significantly to the Army Inspectorates role in 3rd Line of Defence assurance activity and output. While the focus of the role is a balance of staff work, staff co-ordination and analysis and consideration of broader Army assurance; both the Inspectorate and the role are defined by adding value to the Army in supporting identification of significant un-managed risk. Your role makes a difference and affects future Army policy and behaviour. You will be acting with independence and as such will be requiring strong discipline and integrity, the post is also responsible for distributing the recommendations to 2 owners, establishing desk level relationships with Senior Action Managers and tracking progress against recommendation closure. You will work with the policy and Deputy Inspector, leading the Reconciliation Boards process to assess those recommendations for assurance and audit reports You will run the Army Inspectorates weak signals identification process and are the lead for data exploitation of the Audit and Inspection Database (ARMS). You will have a keen analytical approach to ensure that recommendations are only closed when they have demonstrated that they have met the original intent. You will work to SO1 Policy and act as that posts deputy for all matters pertaining to the management of information and knowledge within the Inspectorate. The role also includes embracing and leading the adoption of Smarter Ways of Working, as well as increasing the digitisation of the Inspectorate processes. You are also responsible for planning and providing training in lessons, continuous improvement and knowledge management to the Branch to ensure that the Inspectorate remains skilled and competent in these critical areas of its delivery.
