To support our students and staff, we are looking for a highly organized and proactive Exams Officer to join our team. Role Overview: As the Exams Officer, you will be responsible for managing the administration and logistics of internal and external examinations at the school. This key role ensures that exams are run efficiently, in compliance with all regulations, and in a way that minimizes disruption to students and staff. The Exams Officer will work closely with senior leadership, teaching staff, students, and external exam boards to deliver smooth exam sessions and maintain accurate records. Key Responsibilities: Exam Administration: Organize and coordinate the smooth running of all public exams (GCSEs, A-levels, etc.), including internal assessments. Liaise with external exam boards to ensure all necessary paperwork and protocols are in place. Create and maintain exam timetables, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Candidate Management: Register candidates for exams and ensure they are aware of the exam schedules. Support students with special exam arrangements and adjustments, where required. Ensure students receive the correct exam materials and instructions. Logistics and Operations: Oversee the invigilation process, including hiring, training, and managing invigilators. Ensure exam venues are set up according to regulatory guidelines and requirements. Maintain a safe, quiet, and conducive environment for exams. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure that all exams comply with regulations set by exam boards and the Department for Education. Maintain accurate and confidential records of exam results and related documentation. Manage the post-exam process, including processing results, handling appeals, and preparing certificates. Communication and Support: Provide guidance and support to teaching staff regarding exam-related queries. Communicate with students and parents about exam protocols, results, and procedures. Key Requirements: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience of working in an exam-related role, preferably within an educational environment. Knowledge of exam board regulations and procedures. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and external stakeholders. Attention to detail and accuracy in managing records and documentation. Proficiency in using IT systems for exam-related tasks (e.g., SIMS or other school management systems). A calm and professional demeanor, especially under pressure. Desirable Skills: Previous experience as an Exams Officer or in an administrative role within a school. Understanding of special educational needs and how this impacts exams.
