Job Summary The role sits at the forefront of identifying, assessing and implementing exciting new data techniques at CCS, as part of the Data Insights and Delivery (DID) directorate. As a Machine Learning Engineer here at CCS, you will be an influential contributor, collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to deliver meaningful insights and drive data-driven decision-making. Directorate Overview The DID team is central to making sure that decisions made within CCS are driven by data and insights. As a directorate, we provide reporting and insight support across all areas of CCS, including: supplier research framework analysis internal performance reporting We are continuing to enhance our performance analytics capabilities and are looking at ways we can gain a deeper understanding of how our users interact with CCS. We are also expanding our data science strengths and exploring new ways to apply emerging technologies, like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning. We provide analytics across customer and supplier markets where CCS operate, including survey and research support for our commercial and customer engagement colleagues. Our team uses visualisation tools, such as, Power BI to develop and distribute the insights that help CCS succeed. Job description Team Summary The Data Engineering team is responsible for designing, building and managing the processes by which data comes into and flows through the organisation based on Cloud and API first principles through the use of the Microsoft Azure platform. Key Accountabilities: Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features. Develop machine learning models and algorithms, managing the full lifecycle of model development, from design to deployment, management and iteration. Optimisation: Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, and drive the automation of these processes. Identify optimisation opportunities and enhancements in workflows. Problem-Solving: Effectively contribute to the delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder projects that span functions. Creating, maintaining, and improving GitHub repositories for smooth and effective team collaboration. Collaborate with our data scientists and engineers to develop, implement, and maintain robust machine learning systems. Use the agreed specifications to design, code, test and document programs or scripts of medium-to-high complexity, using the right standards and tools. Examples including; AWS & Azure Python & SQL Terraform (and other modern programming languages) Review the system designs of others to ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology Person specification Essential criteria (To be assessed at application stage): Experience working in machine learning engineering / DevOps role. Demonstrable knowledge of the most appropriate modern standards and practices, and how they are applied. Experience in using a variety of prototyping methods and choosing the most appropriate. Experience in the design, deployment and lifecycle management of machine learning models in key cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, using Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools. Proven experience with GitHub, including repository creation and maintenance. Desirable criteria: Excellent communication skills. Able to convey the benefits of data science approaches and inspire curiosity and creativity in others. Translating the complex into the simple to gain understanding and advocacy for our work.
