About the Team This is an exciting opportunity to join the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) team working within the wider Family Information Service (FIS) team in Warwickshire. This is a small friendly team which coordinates the HAF provision across the whole of Warwickshire. A highly rewarding role which enables eligible children across the county to access HAF provision over the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays. Whilst the office base for the role will be in Warwick, the successful applicant will have responsibility for supporting HAF provision in the North of the county and Nuneaton and Bedworth. HAF programme overview The recent government announcement to extend HAF funding nationally until March 2026 means that we are able to extend our HAF team to support delivery for the next 12 months. The aim of the HAF programme is to offer valuable support to families on lower incomes, through access to rewarding activities alongside healthy meals. Grant funding will cover coordination and provision of free holiday places for 6 weeks a year: 4 weeks in the summer, 1 week at Easter and 1 week at Christmas. The aim is that there should be free holiday activities available for school-aged children eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM). It is not expected that all eligible children will attend. LAs are also encouraged to make provision available for non-eligible children who are able to pay. Activities should include provision across a range of outdoor and indoor sport, physical activities, arts and crafts, games and play, food learning and cooking, and trips etc. Expected outcomes for children and families: Eat more healthily and be more active in the school holidays. To take part in engaging and enriching activities to support the development of resilience, character and wellbeing along with wider educational attainment. To be safe and not socially isolated. To have greater knowledge of health and nutrition. To be more engaged with school and other local services. You can find out more about the HAF programme here HAF Programme About the Role The Warwickshire HAF programme is looking to appoint a full time team member until the end of March 2026 (part time may be considered). The role will support the HAF team manager and will work alongside the FIS Officer team, focussing on the day to day running of the HAF programme. Key Requirements We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and abilities: Knowledge of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme. Contribute to coordinating the HAF service across Warwickshire. This may include occasional weekend and evening work at promotional events, e.g., Children and Family Centres, cultural events and staff briefings in schools. Represent the HAF Programme at meetings and events, which may include giving presentations formally and informally, and provide feedback to the HAF Programme coordinator. Excellent customer service skills including the ability to provide advice and guidance by telephone, email, online and face to face. Experience of working effectively with other teams both internally and externally to Warwickshire County Council. Contribute to the organisation's responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people. Deal with any concerns or complaints promptly and effectively. Undertake administrative duties related to the post ensuring emails, queries and tasks are dealt with in a timely manner.
