Job Summary:
Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance and repair of technical and engineering needs for the fleet.
Responsibilities:
1. Attend vessels during periods of maintenance, repair, drydocking and regulatory inspections.
2. Troubleshoot vessel machinery and systems.
3. Develop repair plans and manage repairs onboard.
4. Lead shipboard repairs onboard vessels with crew assistance.
5. Work directly with the vessel crews on preventative maintenance items and spare parts needs.
6. Work directly with contractors when needed for repair support.
7. Assist Technical Superintendent in the purchasing of parts, equipment and supplies.
8. Assist Technical Superintendent in the continuous improvement of preventative maintenance plans for vessel machinery and systems.
9. The port engineer reports directly to the Technical Superintendent.
10. Flexible work hours to accommodate when vessels are in port for maintenance/repair.
Competencies & Qualifications:
1. Must be able to diagnose/troubleshoot machinery, equipment, and vessel systems.
2. Experienced mechanic preferred.
3. Knowledge of steel and aluminum welding.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
5. Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Location:
New England. Some travel to vessels will be required.
