Our posts combine protected time dedicated to your chosen special interest as well as education and career development with practical patient-facing care.
We have a proven track record having first run these posts in 2013 this year sees an expansion in the number and types of clinical fellow roles we can offer.
Main duties of the job
1. Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients presenting to the ED.
2. Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate.
3. Dedicated special interest day per week.
4. Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.
5. Involvement in relevant administration duties.
6. Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate.
7. Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities.

4. Emergency Medicine Ultra-Sound.
5. Sports and exercise medicine.
6. Medical management and leadership.
7. Research Fellow.

These posts are not recognised UK training posts. Nevertheless, MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and develop.
An Introduction to the Specialty
The Emergency Medicine Service is delivered on two sites within the Trust with the Pinderfields hospital site designated as a Major Trauma Unit, Dewsbury is a local ED and Pontefract was one of the first Urgent Treatment Centres in England. Our multi-disciplinary team of dedicated and committed professionals provide high quality care and treatment in what is, when combined across the three hospitals, consistently ranked as one of the top five busiest Urgent and Emergency Medicine services in England handling around 250,000 attendances each year.
The majority of our Consultant team have developed special interests and have been given the time to chase their own passions and interests. This allows them to really support our clinical fellows in developing their own special interests as they’ve already been there.
Terms & Conditions and Tenure
Employment will be as a MYDoc Clinical Fellow on Trust Terms and Conditions of Service. The MYDoc Clinical Fellow posts are initially offered on a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Pay Scale
These roles are equivalent to a doctor on specialty training programmes and will be paid on the equivalent pay scale. The basic salary for this role is £61,825 per annum. Additional payments relating to the rota will be paid on top of the basic salary.
